Savory Heat Elevation!
Layu is a sesame chilli oil. It’s most often used in Japanese dishes to add heat and flavour, but can be used for anything that calls for chilli oil.
S&B La-Yu is made mainly from extract of select red chili peppers. Using our own technique and manufacturing expertise, hot, flavorful and colorful extract is produced, and then sesame oil is added. It features a pungent spiciness, bright red color and the savory flavor of sesame oil.
Pour a few drops over freshly cooked gyoza dumplings, infuse into a tasty dumpling sauce, or swirl it over the top of Japanese yakisoba (stir fried noodles). Overall you can use this over anything you like.
The most common brand in Japan is S&B, and you’ll usually find a bottle or dish of the oil in ramen restaurants across the cities of Japan.
