Simple, reliable system – Sour System by FERMENTOLOGY uses a water barrier, inside an airlock chamber to effectively deferment lacto ferments through an automatic degassing process that creates an anaerobic environment. So you don't have to monitor the ferments!
Includes air lock storage lid – the silicone plug turns the airlock lid into a tough top mason jar lid for storing ferments in the fridge. The lids and all components of the Sour system are made from BPA and phthalate free plastic and silicone.
Make probiotic foods at home – herbs and other fermented vegetables are full of natural, healing probiotics. Fermented vegetables are spicy, acidic and good for your intestines. All you need is salt and any vegetable!
SUITABLE FOR WIDE MOUTH MASON JARS - 84 mm (8.4 cm) – Make up to 4 ferments at once in regular mouth mason jars, including ball, masontops, bernardin, kerr and more, in any glass size (small or large volume), including quarts, pints and gallons.
Perfect for very active fermentation projects!
HOW IT WORKS:
- Get a wide mouth canning jar and fill it with your veggies and brine.
- Ensure that all vegetables and spices are completely submerged below the brine - check out Saver Stones by Fermentology for this: Leave 3-4 cm of space between the top of the brine and the rim of the jar.
- Assemble the lid by placing the gasket into the channel on the underside, an snugly affix the grommet into the hole in the center of the lid.
- Screw the lid onto the jar firmly, but do not overtighten.
- Place the tapered tip of the airlock into the grommet hole, being sure that th bottom tip of the airlock is at least I" above the surface of the brine.
- Place the middle piece of the airlock over the tube, and fill the airlock cavity with water about 2/3 full. Seal the airlock with the teal colored cap.
- Set your jar in a dark corner or cupboard, trying best to keep around room temperature for the duration of the ferment. Be sure to check water levels regularly to avoid evaporation. Refill the airlock as necessary
- Once complete, remove the airlock, fill the grommet hole with the stopper and transfer to the fridge.
- Enjoy!
